Feminist Counselling

What is FeministCounselling?

Feminist counselling recognizes the cultural and societal barriers that impact female identifying persons. These barriers may impact a women's ability to talk, make choices, and find their strengths.

Feminist counsellors create safe and non-judgmental spaces for women to be able to do just that.

Women are able to guide their sessions in the direction they want with their own knowledge and experiences at the forefront. Women-centered counselling believes in the power of valuing all women and their stories. Overall, the goal is to provide environments that uplift and empower.

What to Expect if You Come for Counselling

The Women's Centre counselling program is 100% free and works on a drop-in or appointment basis. Our counsellor works on site three days a week; Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

At the beginning of your session, you will do a quick intake (approximately 10 minutes) which provides an overview of what will be covered in the hour-long session.

Why Come for Counselling?

Counselling provides a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings, helping you gain clarity, develop coping strategies, and improve your overall mental well-being.

Common reasons to come to the Women's Centre for counselling may include crisis intervention, assistance in navigating services, resources and education, or to avail of other programming within the centre. The counsellor is able to assist you in these areas privately and one-on-one if needed.
