February is Violence Prevention Month
Violence Prevention Grant
February 5, 2026
The Women Centre is releasing proposals for VP Grants.
Applicants can receive up to $250.00 per project.
We invite proposals from community organizations, non-profit groups, educational institutions, and individuals who are passionate about violence prevention and have creative ideas to address this issue at the grassroots level.
This is a funding opportunity to support violence prevention projects, workshops, and other initiatives in Western Newfoundland, spanning from Corner Brook to Daniel’s Harbour.

Online Safety and Scam Prevention

The Research & Action Coordinator at the Corner Brook Women Centre is giving a presentation to a local Retirement Home.

Random Acts of Kindness Day
February 10, 2026
Fun and inclusive to everyone!
The Corner Brook Women Centre will be in the community handing out Care Bags.
We plan to visit Tim Hortons, purchase free coffees to hand out, and hopefully start a chain of “pay it forward” purchases in the drive-thru.
We will be at the Corner Brook Public Library handing out goodies and chatting with community members about Violence Prevention. If you happen to see us out at any of these locations, stop by and have a chat. Locations & Hours – Newfoundland & Labrador Public Libraries

Evening at the Library
February 12, 2026
Local author Shelly Kawaja is reading from her novel, The Raw Light of Morning.
This book is centered around a family dealing with the effects of domestic violence and poverty in Stephenville, Newfoundland.
The Journey Project will speak to the audience about their services. The Corner Brook Women Status will also present their services.
